WAITING FOR A DATE

What if you could go on a blind date with the whole pub?...

Waiting for a date took place in an intimate pub setting and was part of an evening of Live Art hosted by Other/Other/Other in May 2012 Norwich.
The duet performed by Michael Ridge and myself explored the akward nature of a blind date as we tried to find our date. Part 1- The structured improvisation included a set of questions which were asked to an audience of one. If  the audience member asked  a question it would be redirected to them and another question would be asked so that the focus would always be on the audience member.

Part 2- After going on a date with the whole pub, the duet performed simple repetitive actions getting closer and close to one another, to a backing track of Elton John on tape cassette. The piece ended with an unexpected twist!

Feedback

The performance broke the boundries of public and private as members of the public enaged in conversation with each other. Through the social akwardness of the piece the ice had been broken!
